Including service providers, at present 39 companies with about 550 staff have set themselves up on the Berlin-Buch Campus. Since 1998 the number of people engaged in biotech has more than doubled. One company is listed on the stock exchange.

The BBB is the development and operations company of the Berlin-Buch Campus. It acquires, manages and supports biotech companies ranging from start-ups and spin-offs to fully developed companies with a high expansion requirement. The BBB offers:

The key research and business fields of the Buch companies are currently: functional genome analysis, protein analysis, immunological products, screening genome data, molecular biology diagnoses and therapies, the search for drug-related target molecules, peptide synthesis and proteomics. Following further expansion of the site, areas such as bioinformatics, nanotechnology, microsystems as well as medicine and laboratory technology will become of major importance.
