As far as overall health care provision is concerned, the Berlin-Buch health region has been in pole position for a long time. With about 1300 beds, Berlin-Buch has one of the largest and most respected hospital sites in the German Federal Republic.

HELIOS Kliniken GmbH, as the operator of three Buch clinics, is erecting a new clinical facility which on completion in 2005 will be the most modern in Berlin.

In addition, the general practitioners in the about 50 practices cooperate closely with the clinics. A comprehensive provision of health services from home care to Qui Gong are also to be found in Buch.

Future projects are likely to expand this even further. For example, one investor is planning to set up on a historic hospital site a center for traditional medicine in conjunction with thermal treatment and a Chinese pharmacy. A further investment project involves the setting up of an international center for altitude training and biomedicine in Berlin-Buch.
