Jörg-Peter Malke
An Actor with Heart and Soul
In addition to this „Die Verspielten“ (the playful ones) have made a name for themselves under his leadership. Last year on the stage at the first Buch autumn festival, the citizens of Buch were able to see the actor. There he did not appear with his „Verspielten“, but as the principal presenter with a microphone in his hand.

With his powerful voice he announced fashion parades, dance groups and musical performances. He appeared very serious when presenting at this festival but he is certainly not like that with the „Verspielten“. With them he is an actor with heart and soul.
No one expected that the 45-year-old Buch citizen, Jörg-Peter Malke, would become an actor. Acting is now his third career. „During the days of the GDR, I had a serious job in a housing organization“ he recalls. „After the wall came down I even trained as a manager. After that I trained as an executive.“
However, somewhere along the way, Jörg-Peter Malke realized that he had to do something else if he wanted to avoid burning himself out. He decided to become an actor. By chance he became acquainted with an agent. „However, she gave me a warning. There are enough unemployed actors, she said“, recalls Malke. Nevertheless, she took him on.
„The theatrical director“
In 2001came the long-awaited summons, that would give this native of Buch his first major role. A producer was looking for an imposing actor with a powerful voice, who could play the theatrical director in Mozart’s operetta „Der Schauspieldirektor“. Malke had an audition – and was immediately given the part.
After this successful debut in a major role this native of Buch „tasted blood“. He trained as an actor and managed to get other parts. However, he was unable to combine this with a job in management training. So, in 2002, he decided to become a professional actor.
Since then Jörg-Peter Malke has found plenty of work on the stage and in television studios. For example, the Berlin public still has fond memories of him in his role as Count Kuckucksberg. Three years ago, in the musical presentation of the comic classic „Ritter Runkel“ he played the loathsome opponent of the Digedag-Freunde.
He also had a number of television roles such as the hunter in „Schloss Einstein“, as Fietje in the series „Der Heiland auf dem Eiland“ and as Gisbert Scholz in „Gute Zeiten- Schlechte Zeiten“.
In addition to his main work as an actor, in the last few years Malke has also been involved in training younger actors. In Altglienicke in south-east of Berlin he set up a youth theatre group, which he is very involved in.
„However, for a long time I toyed with the idea to also set up a theatre group in Buch“, recalls the actor. He presented this idea two years ago at a local meeting of Buch citizens. The idea was received enthusiastically, especially by elderly citizens. The former head of the youth club „Der Alte“ offered him space for the rehersals.
Malke then wanted to set up an actor training group for those who were interested and then develop a production. „Right from the start I was clear about one factor: the most important thing was to have fun with the acting.“
„Die Verspielten“
During the initial phase of the troupe, which was named „Die Verspielten“, it was mainly retired people who came to the rehersals, although there were also some younger people. During the rehersals some people noticed that things did not always have to be done as they would be for the theatre. Others found that acting was not only fun, it was also serious work – and quit.
Although originally planned for the elderly, the theatre group has developed into a relatively team of people. The age of members of the „Verspielten“ ranges from 20 to 45. „Our new member for our latest short piece is just ten years old and he took the role of the narrator in the piece ‚Aschenbrötchen‘“, recalled Jörg-Peter Malke.
In this twelve-minute entertaining tale the actor gives heart and soul. He plays the main female role with his dark hair covered up with a blond wig. During the rehearsals the group had to stop several times because they were laughing so much. At the premier a few weeks ago the audience stamped their feet to show their enjoyment and were convulsed with laughter.
In other scenes of the „Verspielten“ programme, tensions and interpersonal relationships are presented in a humorous manner. There is always lots of excitement generated. Malke’s professional spare time theatre group take their programme to neighbouring houses, parishes and retirement homes and entertain the audiences by presenting both the funny and serious sides of life.
For rehearsals, the group always meet on Wednesdays starting at 6.00 pm in the former Kita at Franz-Schmidt-Straße 8. Members of the public, who are not too shy to appear in public are always welcome to join the „Verspielten“.
